Image Caption: [In 1908 Carl Alwin Schenck (1868-1955) organized a three-day forest fair on George Vanderbilt's estate in Asheville, North Carolina, to help demonstrate the accomplishments and possibilities of practical forestry. The event was well-attended and generated interest in the new field of forestry in the United States.] From Pisgah Forest Station the guests were taken on a tour of the magnificent primeval forest found in Vanderbilt's Pisgah forest.
