Image Caption:  Some of the difficulties of logging in the Douglas fir region of Washington and Oregon are pictured here. The winding road which switch backs up the steep hill was part of the construction necessary before logging operations could begin. Now it will serve as means by which fire fighters can reach this logged area swiftly in case of need. This particular land had been logged rather recently when this photograph was taken. The fringe of trees along the ridges and in the ravines will soon provide seed to carpet this land with tomorrow's forests. This is on the operations of Engle and Worth, McMinnville, Oregon.
