FHS1224th

Image ID: FHS1224
Image Date: 1947
Image Title: Trees Come Back. (Second of a two-picture series.)
Image Caption: This photograph made 19 years later from the same camera point [as that taken in 1928 and seen in image #FHS1223] shows a thick stand of young Douglas fir. Part of Crown Zellerbach's Columbia County Tree Farm, this second growth forest is protected from fire and carefully managed. These naturally planted trees are growing into pulpwood and sawlogs. Besides growing trees for tomorrow, forest managers have salvaged many thousands of dollars worth of useful wood products from the 60,000-acre Tree Farm. (Crown-Zellerbach-AFPI photo.)
