Image Title: Timber Management -- Cut-over Areas, Improper, Idaho.
Image Caption: Caption 1: The St. Joe River at the mouth of Gold Creek. Result of private operation on private land.
Caption 2: This photograph, made at the mouth of Gold Creek on the St. Joe River in Idaho, shows how improper cutting can damage an area. This land was burned over after it was logged, destroying second growth trees. Erosion has resulted from rapid run-off of water from the nearby treeless hills.
