Image Title:  Idaho log drive.
Image Caption:  One of the few remaining big river drives in the Far West is the annual spring Diamond Match Company drive down the Priest River in Idaho. The logs are freed from Priest Lake and floated down the river for about 40 miles during the spring high water season. Logs in the picture include white fir, Douglas fir, and western hemlock, all selectively cut in the Priest Lake region near the Canadian border. About 12 million feet of logs are represented in this photograph.
