Historical Note

Founded in 1960, the International Union of Societies of Foresters (IUSF) promotes the formation and support of professional forestry societies throughout the world. Members of IUSF are national societies made up wholly or substantially of foresters and other professionals related to management of forest-related resources. As professionals, these members have the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a university or college, and most have graduate training to their credit. IUSF members communicate at IUSF international congresses, which are held every five to six years. The President, the Executive Director, and the Executive Board work during the interim years to promote membership and regional interaction through correspondence and meetings.
