Image Caption: [A workman puts the finishing touches on this life-size replica of the schoolhouse used by Carl Alwin Schenck (1868-1955) at his forestry school on George Vanderbilt's estate in Asheville, North Carolina. Schenck founded the school in 1898, and it operated until 1913. In the foreground is a stone marker with a plaque attached commemorating the founding of the school by Dr. Schenck. The schoolhouse replica and the stone marker are today part of the Cradle of Forestry in America national historic site in the Pisgah National Forest near Asheville.]
