Image Caption:  [An unidentified man uses a level perched atop a tripod on railroad tracks to presumably conduct a forest survey. Likely a Yale University forestry school student conducting field training in Urania, Louisiana. For many years the forestry school at Yale held a spring camp for its students on Urania Lumber Company land in Louisiana. Part of the students' training included survey work used to design the layout of logging railroads.]

[This image is from the Urania Lumber Company Collection, consisting of 66 black-and-white photographs and negatives, 1938-1939, of the Urania Lumber Company at Urania, Louisiana, the Southern Experiment Station at Urania, and the visit of the Yale School of Forestry to Urania.
