Image ID:  FHS6162 Image Date:  1971 Image Title:  [Aerial yarding.] Image Caption:  Columbia Construction Helicopters' Sikorsky S-61A, which made history by being the first helicopter model to commercially log. Seen here during salvage of timber burned in the Skyhook Fire, Mt. Hood National Forest, Oregon. First commercial helicopter logging sale was some months before, on Plumas National Forest, California. Same helicopter crashed in late 1972 while logging in Wenatchee National Forest, Washington, killing two crewmen - first two fatalities attributed to helicopter logging flying operations.
